SPA/RAC is issuing a call for consultancy to hire an international expert in Non-indigenous Species (NIS) to develop a monitoring plan for NIS and an early warning system for the Port of Valencia, Spain. The IMAP-MPA project’s legacy: three gains for biodiversity conservation

A win for the ocean: High Seas Treaty signed at United Nations
The High Seas Treaty, also known as the agreement on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction or ‘BBNJ‘, was signed in New York on 20 September, in the margins of the United Nations High Level Week.
The adoption of this agreement is a historic achievement marking the successful end of more than a decade of multilateral work.
EU Commission adopts measures to restrict intentionally added microplastics
On 25th September the Commission takes another major step to protect the environment by adopting measures that restrict microplastics intentionally added to products under the EU chemical legislation REACH. The new rules will prevent the release to the environment of about half a million tonnes of microplastics.

Scoping Study to develop a Mediterranean pilot on measuring the sustainability of the Mediterranean Blue Economy
This assignment aims at conducting a feasibility study to frame the development of a holistic assessment of the sustainability of the Mediterranean Blue Economy.
